Further your Lecturing career with Edinburgh Napier University.
Lecturer in Film (We will consider applications on a part time/job-share basis).
Based in the heart of Scotland’s historic and culturally rich capital city, the Lecturer in Film will give you the opportunity and support to become a pioneer in your chosen field, working for a University with an exciting strategy, ambitious for its staff and students.
Our Film school is a well-established centre of excellence being one of only three prestigious Film Academies in the UK with courses accredited by Creative Skillset.
Our Lecturer in film would be ambitious and enthusiastic about cross-disciplinary and collaborative working across the University and the external film industry. You will be responsible for developing, designing and delivering teaching and student centred learning underpinned by academic scholarship and professional practice, within the Film Programmes.
A PhD is desirable however, not essential. A qualification in a relevant discipline at least to undergraduate level or relevant equivalent experience in professional practice is essential. Our ideal candidate would have in-depth knowledge of filmmaking, together with an understanding of contemporary contexts for the industry, alongside practical experience as a filmmaker. We require a Lecturer with an appropriate area of specialism in the areas of cinematography and/or sound production for film drama. Ideally, experience of research-led teaching and/or training and the ability to demonstrate evidence of a teaching specialisation in order to deliver up-to-date practice-based modules is required. Additionally, a strong and relevant network of film industry contacts would be beneficial.
Interviews will take place between 31st of March and 5th April.
Edinburgh Napier University is committed to supporting equality in the workplace and encourages diversity. We currently hold a bronze Athena SWAN institutional award.
